How does skin needling work?
Skin Needling works by creating a micro injury in the skin at the targeted site. Our aim here is to create controlled inflammation in the skin, this triggers a cascade of reactions by the skin working to repair itself.
Essentially we are waking the skin cells up and giving them a job to do. The main components involved are cytokines (these are small proteins with a signalling function) and fibroblast cells (responsible for laying down new collagen) we are also stimulating growth factors in the dermis to repair structural integrity and give the collagen a stable base to build upon. As this is a non-invasive treatment that is triggering your skin to work for itself, it takes a progressive approach, meaning your skin will keep getting better and better for up to a year after the treatment.
We do recommend a course spaced apart monthly for optimal results (depending on the condition we are treating). Each treatment is layering upon the results of the previous treatment keeping the cascade of stimulated cells in the dermis and epidermis functioning optimally to relay the new collagen structure.
Treatment recommendations
For maximum results with your skin needling treatments it is imperative that you have strong skin with good immunity and free water levels before we start your treatment. It is a good idea to do a course of strengthening facial treatments and be using prescriptive homecare to maximise results. By doing this, your skin has a healthy environment in which to lay down new collagen and nurture the stimulated cells, giving them a chance to do their job. Vitamins A and C are imperative to be used whilst undergoing these treatments.
Once your skin is strong and ready to go, depending on the condition we are treating, between three and six needling sessions, spaced out a month apart, are recommended.
